Bird Egg Identification
11 Answers
My children have just returned from the garden with an empty bird egg. They want to identify what type of bird laid it. I have searched on the internet but have been unable to find anything to help.
The egg is 3cm long and is a turquoise colour with brown smudges. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Blackbird sounds plausible as I have seen one in the garden. Looking at the Mistle Thrush picture, it's close but not exact. The markings on this egg are uniform whereas the Thrush egg seems plainer at one end. My egg is like someone has splattered it with brown inside the mum and it was still wet when she laid it :-)

Yep, from your further description, it does sound like a blackbird egg, as bimbo & yoga sun say. Here's a piccie of some blackbird eggs
