I asked a Q the other day about my hamster poppy, regarding her soiling her bed.
She died today, i got home and she was hardly breathing, not moving and obviously dying, so we went straight to the vet within minutes, where he put her to rest.
So if anyone has the same problem with their hamster soiling their bed please take them straight to the vet, i just thought she was being lazy! Bless poppy.xx

Sorry to hear that sheribeee. Unfortunately hamsters tend to go downhill quite quickly if they become poorly, I remember having similar problems when my sons had hamsters when they were younger.
At least you were able to be with her and she was obviously loved.

Bless her, poor little thing. I'm so sorry.

They are such sensitive little creatures, so susceptible and very hard to treat once they get ill. Once they start to neglect themselves it's usually not a good sign.

My view with hamsters is you give them the happiest little life while you can and I'm sure you have her a happy little life.

Awww , bless the wee thing . I've had 4 hamsters over the years and I agree , they don't normally soil their bedding area or food storage area . It's sad when they get sick and die , so tiny and helpless , and aren't they delightfully entertaining little pets . ((( hug ))) for you sheribeee xxx
I lost Dexter the hamster a few months back, was so sad, he was quite young and got a tumour in him tummy and had to be put down.

Me and t'other half ended up crying together in Morrisons cafe as we were to upset to go home and see his stuff.

How is your daughter taking it?
I read the previous post and I am sorry to hear about your little friend.

She had a short and happy life and you obviously loved her. It is always sad when a furry friend dies though - I remember bursting out crying at work when my first dog died.

Take care.

Susan and da kitties :-)
I am so sorry to hear the sad news of your little pal,so sad, but she was loved and cared for and thats the main thing RIP Poppy.g.

My 2 daughters aged 5 and 8 both cried for about 2 hours, they have held and cuddled poppy, and we will bury her tomoro along with a lily bulb.
I bought her for my sister last year, and when we visited in april hols she was not playing with her, and she seemed very bored, so i brought her home ,bought her a big cage and she became good friens with george our boy hamster.
I feel so bad, i wish i had taken her vets, but i truely did rhink she had become lazy and didnt want to be bothered to get out of bed to pee, how wrong i was. I feel so guilty!
