While I am no twitcher or any authority on birds, I believe I have just spotted a little egret near to Prestatyn in North Wales.
From what I have read these birds seem limited to southern and eastern areas.

Is it unusual to see one of these in North Wales?

Apparently they even have a main roosting site in Cheshire. See here.
They are also at Ynys Hir, the RSPB reserve near Aberdovey.
I used to live on the Wirral and used to see them regularly at Parkgate, which is across the river Dee from Wales. In fact I don't think I ever went to Parkgate without seeing at least one.
