i have a beautiful 1 year old rescued cornsnake.but i have recently found out i am pregnant. im not sure if it is a good idea too keep her around when the baby is born. she is very good, never struck at anyone or even tried to constrict. she is not the usual escape artists most snakes are either but i just really dont know what to do for the best. please give your oppinions or if you have experiance please let me know!
Is there a reason you would not want to keep her because you were pregnant? I don't see the issue, to be honest. As long as you make sure you wash your hands after handling the snake, there shouldn't be any risk of you or the baby getting salmonella or anything from it.
As someone who has a few snakes and other animals, they don't really take a whole lot of looking after, once you've got the set up sorted, and I don't see why it would be a problem with a baby, as long as you are sensible about hygiene.
You could always pass it on to another reptile rescue place if you really aren't happy to have a snake and a baby.
You sound like you are pretty attached to her and don't really want to get rid of her!!
