Dog's anguished howl.

Has anyone heard, or heard of, the howl of sheer anguish of a dog, at the precise moment of death of its owner, even if they are miles apart. i.e owner in hospital, and dog being cared for by friends. Or a dog being in the garden when the owner dies in the house. It's a sound that once heard is never forgotten. Any comments appreciated.

I have really heard about dogs being able to sense events- fortunate and unfortunate both happening with their master. I recall this friend telling his dog ran all the way own his own to the hospital from their home when his father was admitted.
I dont own one right now I really hope to get a pet dog soon. Dogs are really 'man's' best freind.

Yes, my dad always told me that when a dog howled someone related to it was dying, scared me eversince!

My first thoughts are "are you singing to him/her."
Personally there is no sound quite as eerie as a vixen fox in the middle of the night.
I heard one when closing my bedroom window at 3 in the morning. I have never moved so fast in my life as when I lept back into bed and stayed under the covers til morning light.
I have never heard anything else like it.
