FAO Sheribee re Ferrets
2 Answers
I have spoken to my friend the man who has kept ferrets for years. I explained your problem, and, that your two get along so well, apart from the jill getting so distressed. This is his advice - Firstly, the jill will constantly come into season from now until late August, and the male should be separated permanently, apart from putting them together for a short time, if you actually wish them to mate with a view to pregnancy. Secondly, if the situation is left as it is, the jill would (apart from being permanently distressed), become totally exhausted, and you could lose her. Thirdly, he says the best option would be to have the male castrated, and then the two could live happily together as pets. In which case it would be better not to let the jill have a litter. He also said, if you would like to have two or three working ferrets, it would be better to obtain these from a ferret breeder, and from a proven strain of working ferrets, which would need to be housed separately from the pet ferrets, and allowed separate play times. Hope this is of help. Please let me know how you get on. Schutz.

Sheribbee. So pleased I could help. My friend 'the ferret man' lives next door to me, and he said any time you have a question he would be pleased to help. I see the hob is called Smokey, so what is your jill called, and what colour are they. I love my neighbour's ferrets and he often passes one over the fence to me for a cuddle. He has one goldy coloured hob, 3 cream jills, and 2 jills which are chocolate with cream round their eyes. They are gorgeous. By the way love, how is your little girl, are you getting anywhere with solving her problem. And importantly, how is your Dad. Love Schutz.
