Slugs can squeeze through an amazingly narrow gap. They probably live under the sink or other dark damp place. Can you not determine where they come from by the slime trail? You can use the snail & slug pellets sold for the garden but watch out that small kids and pets can't get at them.

You can sprinkle some talcum powder across suspected entries and see the evidence in the morning.
I used to put salt down when we had a big slug problem and couldn't block off where they were getting in but just ended up with big slug mess round the salt :(
keep the kitchen dryer and warmer.
TRy a beer trap to get rid of the existing ones, though you may need to find out where they are coming from as well

Good luck, I hate the slimy creatures
whats a beer trap rosetta?

I too get slugs - every AM i see their trails in my dining room and I cannot figure where they come from (the chimney maybe?)
Please don't use slug pellets, when the slugs eat them and die the birds eat the dead slugs and get poisoned themselves, my friend had a dog who died after she put some down in her garden. There are plenty of natural products on the market which are harmless to pets and wildlife.
Evedawn, all you need is a small bowl or container that you fill with beer to a depth of about 2inches of beer. Slugs and snails love it and drown in it . In the garden i usually use a cut down pop bottle, sometimes in a hole in the flower bed, other times free standing. I would think a medium sized margarine tub would be best in the house. You can empty it down the loo or chuck the whole thing out. If you put it near where you think they are coming from you will have more success.

The advanage of them is that it will do no harm to pets if they do dring the beer, other than being a bit tipsy lol. And you can pick the containers up in the morning so any toddlers dont help themselves (slugs seem to move around mostly in the dark)

You can buy beer traps from garden centres but I would make my own.

Ps my slugs dont go for lager and prefer ordinary bitter,if you have friends who go down to the pub ask for some of the dregs that are left over

Good luck, as I said I hate the slimy creatures
We used to get them in the kitchen at our old house, and i found out by tracing the trails that they were coming in through a gap at the TOP of the door, which you couldn't see - as mentioned, they get through amazingly small gaps.

It may be worth sprinkling some salt or egg shells around your doors and windows if there are any - slugs avoid both.
I had the same problem and eventually found a slug nest under the stairs. It was orange and slimy and I'm heaving at the memory. I cleared it out and we had no more problems. I suspect a slug came in on a log as we had open fires in those days. I agree with the comments about slug pellets, not a good idea.
if you go B&Q you can get copper strip with a sticky back, or use WD40,slugs and snails hate both. Good luck, it worked a treat for me.Oh the sticky back copper strip is in the gardening section.Used for pot plants, wrapped around the pot, stops slugs and snails.
