My swallows are home!!
33 Answers
This morning, I looked up at the roof and saw a little male swallow. I'm sure I heard him yesterday but I didn't see him. I also saw another one flying overhead - male, too I'm sure. I think one may be one of last year's chicks - it's nice to know that at least one has made it back home!! They're early - wasn't expecting them till next Tuesday, as they've arrived on the same date for the last 3 years.
I haven't posted for a while, as I've been tucked up at work and this is a busy time of year round the farm, too, but I've taken a week off this week and this afternoon, I was sitting out on the terrace, in the lovely Welsh sunshine, with the birds twittering and a red kite circling above.
I've been adopted by a lovely ginger tom cat (just like Monty - an absolute Wuss!!) and he's gone to the vet's today, to be neutered. Little Mischa is growing up and is a right little madam, giving the other girls a hard time (she's so forward!!). Tom gets on really well with the girls, though, apart from Gavin, who sees herself as the matriarch and is up for protecting the whole household!! Anyway, I hope that all of you, my friends, are well and I'm sorry I haven't been around for a while. Love, K xxx

Hi, Christine, Ruthann and Rosetta! It's lovely to hear from you all. Yes, it is idyllic here (when the weather's good - you don't want to be here in the winter!!) and this time of year is especially nice. I don't know about facebook, ruthann - I've been invited to join by a few people I know, but I've held back so far - not sure if I want to bare my soul to the world yet!! I might, though.... I'll let you know, if that's OK. I've been adopted by this lovely little ginger tom cat (just like Monty!) - he's been living in the polytunnel for about 3 months now and just wanders in through the cat-flap when he's hungry, which seems to be regularly, twice a day!! He answers to "Tom" (not unusual - no pun intended!!) and having asked around to see if anyone owns him, I've decided he can stay with us, so today I took him to the vet's to be neutered. He's staying overnight 'cos I won't let him in the house yet, as he sprays everywhere!! He's coming home tomorrow and then, hopefully, he'll settle in with us all. He gets on fine with the girls (except Gavin, but she's a s*d anyway - she'll soon come round!) and I think he's just very lonely and craves affection. I reckon his owner has died or moved away and dumped him - more likely the former as he's obviously been someone's much-loved pet and there was an old chap passed away not far from us about 6 months ago. Anyway, that makes 6 now - I've got to draw the line at that, I just can't take any more in, although I'm a softie for cats!! K
lol klieber we cerainly dont bare our souls and none of us knows anything about each other then what we post on here its just nice to chat without the trolls only your chosen friends can see what you post unlike on here where everyone gets to chip in, rosetta is still rosetta on there the same with weeal and bigmamma you only tell people what you want them to know
My goodness your swallow is very early, Kleiber. Mine usually turn up at the May Day bank holiday. My last years swallows nest in our front porch has got squatters!! A wren has taken over their nest and lined it out with moss!! I am seriously hoping that the swallows will not evict her and her family when they return.
Lovely to hear from you all!! I admit, the swallows are early this year - they usually come back in the 3rd week in April.
Tom had his op. yesterday and got through it fine, although the vet thinks he's a bit asthmatic - poor wee man, goodness knows what he's been through. He's not a young cat - probably at least 5 years old, but maybe even 8. He likes to go out at night (which doesn't bode well with me), but I'm not going to be able to change his habits, I guess. At the moment, he's reclining on the spare bed. I think maybe his owner has died and he's been turfed out by whoever's looking after the estate. There was an old chap died near here about 6 months ago, so I'm wondering...
As far as Facebook goes, I might give it a twirl.

Hi kleiber - lovely to see you (and everyone else). I don't see swallows round here but we get lots of swifts. Where you are sounds absolutely idyllic. I would love to have another ginger cat, I miss Dylan and Eric - they were so lovely. I hope "Tom" settles in - he is lucky to have found you.
Please think about FB - there is a nice crowd on there as ruthann and rosetta (both FB friends of mine) say
