The purchase price of any dog is the least amount of money you will ever pay out for that dog, even if you buy an expensive pedigreed dog. Food, vaccinations, microchipping, the inevitable tum upsets and other vet visits will all cost you quite a bit of wonga, so if you want a free dog, are you SURE that you can afford to keep one?
yes the point of a free dog is a rescue dog i can afford to keep one otherwise i would not consider getting one .but yes i greatly agree with what you said as today there is so much animal cruelty and if peopkle aint willing to spend money on 1 then we assume they carnt be trusted to get a dog.i dont mind payin for one but i stated free in my add as im not willing to pay 350 etc for a crossbreed and that is what id like but a rescued one maybe
i am assuming these people are free (sorry not taken time to read). http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/
also locally we have dog and cat homes (think they are rspca run) - my understanding is provided they feel you are suitable they would give you the animal for free. Could you contact them to see if one in your area?

There is no such thing per se as "an expensive pedigree dog".
The expense is included by the breeders in order that they can make fat profits on a dumb animal, and, sadly, there are enough gullible people around who unwittingly contribute to their bulging coffers. Those are the facts.
How many of those, for example, would also have a 9-5 job? i.e. where they could toddle off leaving their dogs unattended whilst they went and did an honest day's work instead of blatantly profiteering at the expense of naive would be owners?
They are unregulated leeches who, no matter how much they bleat in protest, simply swell the number of dogs in a country where so many thousands of mutts are already waiting, some for years, to find a good home.
I will be lambasted by the usual apologists from the breeder types with all sorts of character assasinations on me for having the temerity to have a view.

You're obviously a good person who's trying to give a home to an already unwanted dog. The best of luck. You should have no difficulty finding what you're looking for but don't expect any breeders to offer one for nowt.

Got a dog last friday from and RSPCA kennel - cost 150.00.
If you really need free though (and I appreciate that you may be able to keep a dog, just not have the money to buy (I could have used the 150 for bills etc)) maybe try a few local vets, spread the word that any you are interested in any unwanted dogs.

Try this dogs rescue wily:
http://www.freewebs.com/manytearsrescue/dogslo okingforhomes.htm
They will do a home check and make a small charge but all the dogs that they rehome are fit and most have been fostered so they know what they are like in a 'real' home.
