Update- On BOB the ferret NOT GOOD NEWS
33 Answers
Went to the vets on tuesday for a check up on his progress and we decided all round to keep him on this diet as we had kind of diagnosed an asphagus dialation and that was what we were treating him for, He is so well i cant tell you running up the stairs quicker than me, hungry 24 seven, very playfull, So I went back to the vets tonight to pick up aload of food to get passed the christmas period and the vet heard my voice and said after i had seen the receptionist if i could come and see her as she had the results back, she didnt really need to say anything I knew it was bad, BOB has LYMPHOMA, so we discuseed it for a while and as he is so well we are going to give the chemo a shot, If he does not have it he will die in around 3 months, with chemo and steroids it may shrink and stay down for a while, we are both devestated and the vet said chemo is not painful with very little side effects and some ferrets do respond and some dont so we are trying it in the morning, I hope people dont think i am beeing cruel in putting him through it but the vet has said he is so well that he shouldn't know he has had it.
thanks all

Well Bob is still with us he is in NO pain at the moment, I just think we had such a bad time thinking of what is to come in the so near future we got our selves in such a state , He has been out and played for a while still eating like a horse, the vet seems to think the chemo makes them tired and we should waite at least 7 days to see what the improvement is, Boxing day is going to be fun as that is when we are next to visit the vets , she said It aparently takes 7 days to get into there system and bone marrow so if he is ok and we are coping to leave it till then , Kate has gone down with a stinking cold which ferrets can catch so its hard for her not to go near him at present, He is still running up the stairs quicker than me still and is quite active for a while but nothing compared to emma ( the girlfriend) who can stay up for hours on end, We are still hand feeding him 4 hourly which he loves but tiring through the night for me,( Worse than having a new born baby )but he is loving all the attention and beeing bob he is refusing to eat his dinner any other way, I am sorry for yesterdays post but you know what it is like when you have no sleep and everything just comes tumbling down on you, But he is such a little fighter ( Mother does not know this yet but he is coming to christmas dinner there otherwise we are at home with beans on toast with bob ) I am sure she will be fine but i will break it to her on thursday....lol
so glad he is still with you ,if he is eating and playing then he still has a quality of life, he is bound to be tired just having been ill will have pulled him down thats with out having the chemo which will tire him , try and keep positive (easier said then done i know ) as with kids when they are sleeping they are growing and healing animals are the same take care and try and enjoy your xmas please keep us updated ,love to you all ruth xxx
I am happy that Bob is still well and toddling around. I bet he is a fun friend to have.
Look after yourself - my cat, Frankie, has asthma and I am always on edge and listening out for him having an attack. I jump at every noise in the house. He is thundering around looking bright eyed and bushy tailed and I look like the walking dead.
I hope that you all have a happy time at Christmas - especially Bob and his good lady Emma.

We took him back on saturday for a checkup so i thought, He saw doing so well once we got over the first dose of chemo, and the vet said as he was so bright he needed his second dose of chemo to see how he rsponds if there was no improvement it would be his last and then pallett care for the wee man, The second dose has really knocked the stuffing out of him he is so sleepy and not very active at all, He can now eat really well as the chemo has shrunk the lymph nodes in his throat but to be honist he just wants to be left alone, so I have to ring the vets tomorrow to give her an update and we would rather have a happy ferret for as long as we can than an unhappy little chappy so we will stop it dependding on what she says.:(
