I have 4 Bantams that are a year old, ( i do love them to bits ) 1 turned out to be a Male and as a rule they have always got on really well, Martha my pekin female was under the weather on monday and when she tried to get out her coop she stumbled out with her wings on the ground, I seperated her into a different coop as i was worried, over the last 2 days she has eaten hardly anything and her pooh was very watery with not alot of food in it, I did some research last night and got a recipe that included yogurt, vitamins, huney, layers pellets, cat food, Apple, and tried her with it but she still would not eat, So i took her to the vets tonight and we did swabs and examination, she does have mites which the vet said was normal in an unwell chicken but there was no worms i do give them apple cider vinegar in there water but the vet seems to think that she has got low down in the pecking order and is beeing bullied it is likely she has a water infection, Her heart beat was low and she is very thin and we are feeding her liquidised layers pellets, honey, cat food, chick peas, ( we syringed it into her) can anyone help with what else is really good for her that i can try to feed her i am off tomorrow to an agricultural seller that sells everything, so i want to go with a good shopping list, all other bantams are really well

Thankyou

hi jo i rescued some battery hens last year and one in particular was picked on and very thin i used to take her away from the others 4 or 5 times a day and feed her alone dont give her layers pellets as i was told they help produce the eggs and she needs food to help her gain weight and recover, try some scrambled egg and any tasty scraps to get her started eating again also i used to give mine some milk to drink each time she came out good luck

Thanks ruthan,
I was always told not to give them milk as chickens are lactos intolerant and cant digest it, The funny thing is always gave them a warm bowl of either cornflakes and milk or bran flakes with milk or wheatabix and then stopped, ( AUTMNWATHCH) said not to but i will try anything at this point as she is very sweet and she needs to put on a lot of weight, I will try her with some tomorrow, Thanks
can you shut her up warm somewhere for a few days
