Whilst I support animal charities, I do not and cannot support this one.
They have a "Lost Pets" helpline, which I called when I was frantic with worry after one of mine had disappeared for several weeks. Their "lost pets" helpline was a premium rate number where I gave minimal details of my pet and then was given the "hard sell" on making a regular donation. No account was taken of my obvious distress. On the other hand, the local Stray Cats Fund was EXTREMELY helpful in giving me other numbers to try; putting an advert in the local paper and was full of helpful advice and support. Every time a cat mentioning my cat's description was found (in whatever state) they called me. When he turned up out of the blue (he just wondered home), who got my grateful thanks, my business card for free legal advice, a donation of money and some pet food?!!!!
Although I guess they need our money - they've just lost two very substantial court cases over wills.
