We made a pond in the garden last year, and I've just noticed we have frog spawn. We also have a few goldfish and a couple of small koi. Do fish or any other water dwellers eat frog spawn...or tadpoles eventually, should I move the spawn to a very small pond which has no fish in it, or is it a case of the survival of the fittest? As I'm very new to the world of garden ponds, so any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Let nature take its course Christianne because even if the Fish have a field day some of the Tadpoles will survive and the Frogs/Toads will live to fight another day !
We used to move the spawn somewhere safe but most of it died anyway. Also they cannibalise each other. The fish will eat the tadpoles but quite a few survive and you will be overrun with frogs. So as peviously stated just let nature take its course.

Thank you very much for your answers. Mother Nature is very cruel! My neighbour has just told me he was amazed to see a blackbird helping herself to his tadpoles last year. How long does it take before this year's frogs return to mate in the pond, assuming some to survive the big bad world out there?
Once you have got them breeding in there they will be back every spring.I love them I think they are cute. The little beggars keep setting off my security light with their nocturnal activies.
