Robin

I have a resident robin who insists on singing at the top of his pretty little voice all night long!  He also swoops down to see me when I let the dogs out in the garden at about midnight each evening.  Is this unusual?  It is the first time I can remember this happening.  And it is definitely a robin, not a nightingale!!
