We are having such a crabbie time at the moment with our pets at the moment, Anyone else or is it just my turn.
First George our duck that i hatched back in May has a severe skin infection and has cost loads in diagnosis which we are still not sure on....he needs alot of care.
then Molly my old westie of 13 decided to eat the chicken food one day and had a severe skin condition... Back to the vets
Martha the bantam who is technicaly georges mum as she sat on his egg went down with a water infection due to not eating as she was broodie.....so that is 2 birds with antibiotics and having to syringe fluids.
and then today i got home from work, I left when it was dark this morning so did not notice, squirt my cat came up stairs at lunch time and i had to do a double take, he had the biggest abcess on his mouth you ever did see... I released the pressure and the muck and smell that came out so we went back to the vets for antibiotics tonight......squirt did a hat trick in the car, Daughter head out of the window all the way. Vet had to bath him as he was covered in sh@t ......we then get out the car when we got home and there is a baby rabbit running around the drive which we managed to catch and then release later in the field at the back of the house.
I must have spent £800 this month.....where does it end...sorry to rant i needed to let off steam

Trouble is when we have animals to look after I suppose we should regularly put money aside for their veterinary care and treatment whether or not they are ill. Spreading the cost out over the year seems to make it all slightly more bearable. Well done for what you have done for them though and I hope they all recover fully and soon.
OOOh I have sympathy Josaphine. I must admit I have insurance on my cats which might seem like a luxury but Rober has had his money's worth this year.
I had a nasty surprise this morning, I suspect that the night's rain was just too heavy for the cats to go out, someone had left me a very ripe poo in the hall, just tucked under the edge of the stairs and matching the hall carpet. Hmmm, lovely.

I moved to my current house 3 years ago, taking my adored two cats, a fish and a rabbit with me.
Within a year, my favourite cat has swallowed anti-freeze and died the next day at the vet.
6 months later, her som got a urinary tract blockage and despite two operations he died too.
My fish developed a hideous rot problem and I tried really hard but lost him too.
A month ago I noticed my beloved, characterful and funny rabbit limping and took him to the vet. When they clipped his fur his whole back end had been torn open by some attacker and I lost him too.
So yeah. I had a bad time with pets.
