bird feeder boxes

I have a dog who is mostly in the house but since this terrible weathr I have left bird feeding balls perched on hedges - none of them has been touched - what have I done wrong.

What does your dog, and the weather, have to do with bird feeders?

Where do you normally put them?

Can' the birds actually perch somewhere to eat, or are they being expected to hover?

I don't really understand the question.

The dog has to do with everything as in the birds are afraid of them. So I keep my dog in most of time - the balls of bird food are 12 feet high stuck in some hedges - so I guess they have nothing to perch on. Can you tell me where I can get one. Thanks

Go to a Garden Centre or your nearest RSPB Shop and purchase Bird Feed holders similar to what is in link below. They are not too expensive, but put them in a prominent location in your Garden where the Birds will feel safe feeding.

How do you get your balls 12ft off the ground.? Do you use a ladder to position them.?

I think a hefty kick to the balls might achieve reasonable altitude, but 12ft is pushing the envelope a little. :-))
