can anyone tell me why at this time of the year and every year we have a blue tit flying up the patio widow and tapping it with its beak,strange but true

He's probably trying to tell you it's almost spring & could you  put out a little extra food & some warm fluffy nesting material please!

Seriously, I suppose he could be after any insects that are nestled or caught up in a spiders web in the corners of your windows.

He probably can see his reflection and thinks he has found a very attractive mate!

Either that or he thinks he seen a rival in his territory!

Another possibility is that he's attacking his own reflection believing it to be an intruder - another bird trying to muscle in on his territory. Even though it's early in the year the Blue Tits have been looking around for the best nesting sites since the middle of January so all competition has to be dealt with swiftly.

The only way to prevent this happening again is to buy a silhouette of a hawk or an owl from the  RSPB  or similar outlet  and attach it to your window.
