rabbit problems

Went to the vet with my 4 year old rabbit the other day, and told her he had not eaten for 3 days, the vet got really worries and said it is imperative that a rabbit eats. Apart from the starvation mode thing is there any other reason medically for this.

Maybe to do with their teeth? I know that their teeth can overgrow if the are not ground down by eating.
Rabbits pass 1st lot droppings that have to be re-eaten to get the full nutritional balance from their food???? Cattle etc. can do this by keeping it in their stomach and re-chew "the cud".

I would rather think that not eating for three is a sign of extreme unwellness. Surely the Vet must have given you some idea what ails the bunny!
