We have just purchased a nine week old Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. I am going to the vets on Wednesday to begin his course of vaccinations. He was last wormed on 27/02/05 so I will also be buying some worming tablets. We are also interested in getting him fitted with an Identichip.

Does anyone have a ball park figure of how much this little lot may set me back ? I'm in Southgate, North London.

Our indentichip was about 30 i think, vaccinations are about 20 a pop depending on what you are having, wormers vary enormously in price and relating to the size of the animal. As a puppy maybe 10 for 4 doses from a vet, but with a big dog it will get somewhat more expensive! I do always buy from a vet as they tend to be better than those from the supermarket etc.
Finally, different vets vary quite widely in price. Taking a puppy for the first time they might want to do a consultation as well which you might well be charged for. This for us is about 25 a time, but the best thing to do is ring your vet and get a rough price for it all!
Some charities/ council dog wardens will chip your pet for free or for a reduced fee so worth looking around...
