seagull scarer

[what..the?]

I have a pair of seagulls outside my office window that scream constantly when I am on the phone, I need to scare them off before they start to nest. I have a big plastic weighted owl model at home (not something I would buy it was abandoned by previous owners) It is larger then said seagulls so will that work? Any other advice, would the sound of bigger prey birds scare them, could I get a free sound effect/recording I could play on my pc?

What the: You could fix a megaphone on your car with a recorded seagull noise and drive out of town. They will all follow you. That's what they do in some seaside towns!! ;o)

Arghhhhh man the owl won't work i'm p**ssed off, I cam't afford to buy proper specialist equipment, will tell the man lords then who control the building ask them to sort it but I can't see what they can really do they aren't nesting yet so there's nothing to move, maybe some spikes??

Just have the window ledge bird proofed, not expensive for one window, the owl will work as long as you don't leave it there too long, they will just accept, take it down after a few weeks and then put it up again. You will also need to face the owl in the direction of the incoming gulls.

I got a photo of my cat and blew it up and stuck it on my office window - that's scared away the gull which used to peck on the window every day.

pinki, in my road, it's the seagulls which rip the binbags. Bin day is a nightmare.

thanks for all the advice will try owl first and take it in and out, maybe move it around, the spikes are a good idea but it's not just a window sill out side my window as I am on the top floor is actually a wall which runs the whole length of the building which runs about a block it's huge, the seagulls can land and and make a noise anywhere along this wall but no it likes the wall just outside my window, when I come into work and leave they are still sat there screaming when I drive away. So regards the spikes I can't do the whole wall but could try a 2 metre section outside my office window to keep them away just bit.
