I'll have to go down to the side of the straits by the lions and see if i can see them through the binoculars. we have seen them on the side of the A55 as well but unfortunately the are not quick enough on take off and there have been a few fatalaties over the last 3 months or so.
Just been watching the Barn Owls on Webcam, they are eating like there's no tomorrow. They are getting Potbellied !!
New Buzzard Nest with 2 Chicks as well.
a question, redman .... what are the chances of all four barn owl chicks surviving ?? I didn't realise the parents left food for them ... having watched the owls in Cornwell when every piece of food brought was rapidly devoured, I thought these little ones would be unlikely to live even if the adults were very dedicated
Owls are not the best parents. They throw the food into the nest and just hope for the best. The chicks seem to thrive despite it. Once they are out of the nest and on their own they really are on their own!! Tough love!!
Things were a bit iffy in the beginning because of the different sizes of the Chicks, quite often they start devouring each other. All of them are being well fed and swallowing the food whole and all of them look very healthy.Plenty of food being brought for them as well, they have Pot bellies !!! lol
Touch wood it looks like a healthy brood seekeerz !
oh martin does look good in leather...despite having a daughter Chris was quite fey with his camp comments... He's supposed to have along term lady I wonder what she thinks
On the bird front more great seabirds, adorable Puffling..(what a great name for it) and lots of raptors and no beavers keep it up folks
Programme has been better this week, those wood warblers are gorgeous little birds. I enjoyed the reports from Skomer too - much more so than those about the beavers last week. Will be keeping an eye on the web-cams over the weekend
What a shame that there are only 4 Episodes left plus 1 Unsprung !
Programmes like this are sadly few and far between.
There are loads of Wildlife Documentaries but none like Springwatch where the 'action' is Live, plus their live Webcams as well.
Another nest full of Pied Flycatcher Chicks have all died due to not enough food.
Not a good breeding period for these lovely little birds.
Wood Warblers and the Barn Owls are doing well so far as they are being well fed !
Those Barn Owls have Pot Bellies !!
MHG in the stream.... bet that was cold..... the wrens escaping from the Jay was good...and the wildlife at Pitsea.... always worth looking out for wild things if in the neighbouthood...and if Meds are breeding in the area worth a proper trip a they are another bird I keep dipping on...
