Rare Bird sightings

special areas of interest might be worth putting the bird species in uppercase at the start of the post to help us spot stuff of interest

Waxwings reported at Nuneaton and at Erdington yesterday, according to Birdnet Website ! They are getting closer Rowan ! :-)

Scarborough Birders regularly put sightings on the site already Rowan. I guess many individuals do it through the local birding group.

How do we know whether it's rare or not - I saw a couple of woodpeckers in Twickenham last weekend.

thinking of the site members who don't belong to the groups but would like to pop out to see something local... Best way to tell if something is rare(ish) or not if it isn't in a 'birds in your garden/life on the seashore type book

Waxwings reported on the Great Orme, Llandudno this morning, but no further reports of any in the West Midlands

There must be a very good Birding Group around Sheffield as there are far more reports of Waxwings than is being reported around the West Midlands area, Birmingham in particular.

Waxwings: 50-100 in the B&Q car park, Llandudno, today...wonderful :)
Firecrests: 3 definites, 4 probables, at Conway RSPB, today. If it's defo 4 it could mean two breeding pairs, which would be marvellous.
Apparently, if you shove apples on garden canes it'll attract waxwings.

Hi Dave...never knew you were a birder..... just bought new 8x 50's spoilt myself with some really good ones. Its times like this I wish one of us had a car and could drive some of the best places are so hard to get to.

Northampton. Fourteen waxwing at Sixfields Lake.

We saw a Barred Warbler whilst on holiday in Norfolk a few weeks ago. Lots of interest as you can imagine. WIll try and post a pic. My partner took a photo so it's on his PC at the moment.
