Anyone know when and where to watch this great spectacular? My sister asked me. She lives in the Chelmsford area so how far would she have to travel to see the display.

Hi, Cupid....Murmurations will take place from now until about February.

I go to Brighton and the Somerset Levels but nothing is guaranteed.

Google it and there will be lists of where to see these....x
One of the classics is in Brighton - a bit of a step from Chelmsford - but there are many other sites - I'm sure the usual suspects will be here soon ...

As indeed they are :)
The flights in Brighton are amazing as they roost on the Pier.

Thank you. I shall convey your answers to my sister. I suppose Cambridge would be nearest. Not sure if she wants to go that far.
I've seen hundreds of juvenile starlings in a flock displaying and landing on the surrounding fields and electricity and phone wires here this morning. Thought at first they were redwings or fieldfares until I heard them and used binoculars to confirm that they were starlings. They stayed for about an hour, prodding the fields for grubs/worms and swarming then went on their way. I assumed that they'd come up from the town centre where they usually roost, this is West Yorkshire btw.

Redwings and fieldfares usually stop off here in October but I haven't seen any yet this year.
Worth trying RSPB Minsmere, which is on the Suffolk coast up the A12 from you.
Or try RSPB Fen Drayton in Cambridgeshire. Both of these get a medium size murmuration
There's a 1 happening in the North of Sheffield with over 50,000 starlings murmurating. I'm going to see it this week.
BTW, 1 waxwing has been seen in my fair city:-)
I went on sat to see the murmuration @ Middleton moor. Great spectacle! The sunset was equally as good, I've never seen so many colours in the clouds.
