Yippee - 'my' cuckoo has survived another winter in the DRC and his tag is active again - he should be moving North soon, ready to return to the UK in April.

It's quite astonishing the miles these birds cover - David is on (at least) his 5th trip to Africa - I do get all emotional when he phones home after a worrying quiet period.

Has he got a wife here? I know very little about birds but I agree that flying there and back every year is quite an achievement.
