Opened my back door this morning and there were six long tailed tits feeding on the fat balls. Haven't seen any for yonks, hope they stay around for a while.
I can't remember seeing any for a while either (but, with house full of cats, there are never many birds in my garden anyway!). I'll have to get out onto some country walks to look for them again.
Maggie.....I've had them in my garden for the first time since I moved in five years ago.....lovely birds....called a zephyr of long tailed tits....nice that...x
Up until about September, three times a day, we used to get a melange of long-tailed, blue, great and coal tits on our window feeder. It looked like Heathrow at times; but then they all disappeared. We are currently down to a couple of blue tits and a Robin who thinks all his Xmas' have come at once.
I think LTT's are the most stunning looking birds. So pretty. I used to get them but only occasionally at my feeders but now I can't feed the birds any more I probably won't see them in my garden again:-(
Sadly no matter what we put out all we seem to get are a couple of wood pigons, sparrows and the odd blackird, though I did see a pied wag tail on the patio the other week.Afraid we've too many cats prowling about the area.
Guess What!!.
I saw four long tailed's on my peanut feeder this morning, they seemed to come in with the great tits and blue tits, as part of a mixed flock.
There's a bountiful supply of seeds in the countryside around our house. The long tailed tits are all there, rather than in my garden. I love them, such pretty little things.
Re pied wagtails....we get them in the back garden and also pecking at the pavements but only in very cold weather...never see them unless it's around freezing. We've also got robins and are over-run with blackbirds...
I'm still getting them, Chip and also in mixed flocks.......but the greatest joy for me?......The starlings chattering and squabbling on the fat blocks....x
