Can You Identify This Egg?
4 Answers
I'm not a twitcher, but hope someone knowledgeable can help me out!
On 18th October last I found a large creamy-white egg lying at the base of a rose bush, in my garden. It measures about 80mm x 60mm; looks much like a chicken's egg, but bigger; It is unbroken, without any cracks, has a hole at top end diameter 5-6mm, which looks just like the hole created by a hatchlings egg-tooth. It was cold, there was no life, but there is what appears to be "matter" inside the egg; I've stored the egg in a refrigerator. What is extraordinary is the way the egg lay on its side very close to the stem, under some thorny branches - how could it have got there?
