People drop out when their work takes them elsewhere, that's been commented on before - or when they find something more interesting to do.
It's easy enough to check people's most recent posts from their profiles, to see when they last posted, if they said they were going to be sitting in a field somewhere for a few weeks - or in hospital.
Perhaps if this was seen as compromising privacy Ed, might consider either having it as a poll, or sending it out within the next news letter. Ron, I think having Ed assure us all is well is a good thing, we have all missed users at some time.
i think many would be a bit miffed to get such an email asking where you are... its nobody elses business, and we are not obliged to be here...this is a website that people use as an when they have time or the inclination.
some would take it in the spirit, others would take offence - feel badgered perhaps...especially if there was some major reason for their absense
and what is considered an absense? one week?. 2 weeks? a month?
most people come and go depending on work, life etc
People do come and go, I have over the years though there have been some sad explanations too. It can be worrying though if a very regular poster disappears with no explanation and out of character.
I was just thinking of Ethel the other day, did anyone ever hear from her after she last posted?
