I'm feeling terribly silly at the moment, so please excuse me. It must be the sun.

Starting next week all posts will include a preview pane so you will be able to edit your posts before you submit it to a thread. You will have the option to edit, so for people who want to quickly submit a post you won't need to preview it first.

The new posting system will get rid of those nasty html tags that some of you have complained about and standardise the look of the posts sorry, no more colours! The formatting strip at the top of the posting box will also disappear.

We hope you like the changes and as always if you experience any technical difficulty please email us through the Contact Us page.

OH... MY... GOD... I'll be just like everybody else. What about my individuality? I feel like my freedom is being taken away! *WAH!* :'o(]
So we won't be able to refer to Champagne in bold, or place emphasis on words when we really want to?

Life won't be worth living....
ABE, yir figures show the format facility was used in 12,180 answers. Why can you not remove some of the features, why is it all or nothing?
Heh heh. When I said "Yay! A preview facility!", what I really meant was "Yay! An edit facility!" Not too fussed about previewing as long as we can edit after posting.

I guess this post just goes to show why I'm so pleased about it. :-)
like I said, if everyone had the Google toolbar then any errors are so easily picked up before submitting, just highlight the post, click the ABC check at the top on the Google toolbar and any word not spelt correctly is highlighted in red and u can select the correct spelling from a drop down list, it takes seconds, if u can't spell it the first time how will you know the right way by continuing to stare at it! Not happy with this idea at all, but if the ed says the robots reckon it will stop the site slowing at busy times fair enough, but I shall probably type some replies in word and then cut and paste them.

Hi Mrs Ed. You need a little sun, you are looking a bit pink.

that's a shame... bullet points and centred justification aren't much use but I do like italics, as they enable you to replicate the human voice in print just that little bit better. Given the occasional bad temper that erupts when people have misunderstood the tone of a post, I'll be sorry to lose the added flexibility and subtlety that italics allow.

Like TCL I'll also miss being able to put other users' names in bold, which as well as being a way of attracting their attention more quickly is also a small courtesy.

Is it really necessary to do away with these formatting features? They may not appeal to everyone but they do have their uses.

welcome home jno, did u enjoy your vacation as our US counterparts prefer to call it? yes it is a dilemma, (i am totally opposed to it by the way) It is a function i use a lot and i shall miss it but6 the robots have instructed 'She Who must be Obeyed' to inform us of this development and it looks as though, like the World Cup topic the decision from above is final.

hello dot, yes I have been cruising the briny Med and seen some whales. It is lamentable losing our formatting, but perhaps the Ed feels some users have been too bold altogether so she has decided to underscore her distaste by giving it the

I suppose ABE is justified then.

didn't expect to find you on the extreme right, TCL

ABE, I would just like to underline the fact that I am not a

  1. number

I am a FREE MAN! ....Or woman even. Whatever. *ahem*

surprised as I am to learn that only 7% of posts used bold words... what percentage of posts had HTML tag problems?
We need Bold words in the Biddybank ED..most of them are as blind as bats... except for me....he he....(:-)quickly shuffles away....(:-)

I am sorry but this is even more aggravating to me this morning, this html thingy i have no clue about, i don't know what it means, I do know that taking the options in the formatting bar will reduce the understanding of posts, it isn't always easy to interpret tone on here and this is one of the best ways.

  • PLUS Bob will not know when I am really angry at him!

Please keep the bullet points Ed, I think it makes things look so much neater......

I usually use Mozilla Firefox which means that I don't get colours or bold or underlining at all. It also means that I can't post a link so when I want to I have to...................

........switch to Internet Explorer but it does mean that I can occasionally use colours which is quite nice.

Mrs Ed does this mean that in future I'll be able to post links in Mozilla?

OOOOoooooooo spudqueen you show off lol

I'd never thought to do that *blush*

It is a shame , I'll especially miss The italics and bold for emphasis and , as jno said it does give the impression of the human voice more than without it.
