Prize Quizzes

Can somebody please do something about the people who put questions from prize quizzes on this site without actually saying where they are from? People who are not doing the quiz unwittingly give answers which really annoys those people who have sought out the answers by their own efforts. And it annoys the quiz-setters too.

What does it matter? There are just as many questions answered by those doing the quizzes as there are by those who are not. And I doubt if it annoys the quiz-setters - why would it?

Can't see that the quiz-setters will be annoyed as the more people that do their quizzes the better the circulation of the paper/ magazine etc. Don't see anything wrong with asking or giving answers .

ooh yes because we couldn't have anyone get an answer without having trawled the net for it can we?
i feel so ashamed at having ''unwittingly'' given an answer... i mean what if they won?
i couldn't bear someone to win something unless i get a piece too!

it is annoying when they fill up the boards with almost entire quizzes, and that is the only reason the quizzers annoy me - but how mean spirited of you, to just not want them to get the answer easily!

the reason questions are asked is nothing to do with you.

Figi.....this site is called Answerbank.....a Q&A site with a topic called Quizzes & Puzzles....theres nothing wrong with people seeking an answer to a prize quiz.

I see little difference in asking a question on this site and asking team-mates, friends and/or family whether they know an answer or ideas as to where to look further. All it is is widening that particular net. I think it's irrelevant whetther it's a prize quiz, a prize crossword or just a bit of fun. The number of people who will only do a quiz/crossword/puzzle with absolutely no help from another human source are few and far between. I do a lot and have never come across someone like that although occasionally some try to kid you that they do. That's not to say there aren't some out there of course. It's almost like saying that people shouldn't use the internet, they should only use their own books and/or libraries. I just feel you use whatever resources you require and if people are kind enough to give you a hint or answer on Answerbank that's fine. It's up to you whether you then use it or not because of course it might not actually be correct!.

When you have spent hours tracking down answers to a quiz and are left with just a couple you just can't find it is nice to know you have a mate at Answer bank who will help you out. If i had spent all that time and effort and not been able to complete it i would give up doing them altogether.
That way chatities would lose out as i do lots of them.
Don't be such a killjoy i'm sure you can find something more important to complain about.

Have to agree with you on your point joko when someone seems to be asking for the whole quiz............but I have no problem in answering the odd question and indeed asking for answers as well.

I use the internet to find answers to puzzles and crosswords, but I can't help feeling that some of the fun has gone now that most answers can be found so easily in a matter of seconds. I would imgine that it also takes away much of the pleasure from the people who devise the puzzles. They must know that however ingenious they are, solvers will be able to find answers with little effort or expenditure of thought.

i must say i never research answers for puzzles - unless i am entering a competition - which i rarely do.

i can't see the point in doing them if you have just got the answers given to you or looked them up - the fun for me is in seeing if you know the answers or can figure them out.

if i get stuck, i just shrug and do another

though i don't usually get stuck, so perhaps the ones i do are too easy...
