One of my answers was edited by AB, but it didn't contain any personal refrences, any profanities or any particular controversial opinions.  In fact, when I read it after the edit, it looked exactly the same as when I had typed - so why does it have an edit bar beside it?

Octavius - we may have unbolded your message (because all-bold is the written version of shouting), or perhaps we removed some stray HTML coding.

Either way, our editing in this case was probably for cosmetic reasons only.

We hope you were able to help whoever you were answering.

All the best,

I only whisper my (very helpful) answers, so it must have been some of those sprogglin HTML thingymajiggybobs,

I wondered the same thing Octavius.  But what is the HTML thing?  I was just writing my message normally and not shouting or swearing, was on my best behaviour and have never had a HTML thing before.  Little goblins in my compy.....

Editor - what makes you think that bold is the equivalent of shouting?  CAPITALS is the equivalent of shouting, not bold.  Is this why you unbolded some of my answers a few weeks ago?  If so, why didn't you just say so in the first place instead of antagonising me (and a few other people) with no explanation?

I assumed the HTML things were all these <nbsp> etc that keep appearing.

Thanks bernardo - I was just going to post the same sentiments as you have.

Recently, one of my replies was edited & I was 'accused' of shouting, but only because I wrote the words 'Consult your GP' in bold, not capitals, to someone who had asked for medical advice! You can't win!

We apologies for any stress caused by the unbolding of users' posts.

lol

Ditto natalie!

What I do find perplexing is when it says 'Edited By Answerbank' when it wasn't!

I gave an answer that was on the board for two days before those infamous words were placed at the bottom yet I'd placed the only asterisk in the answer of my own accord!

Sheesh!
