Is there any way to ask people to post their question in the " Question box " rather than typing it all into the Title box and then leaving the actual question box empty.

This question has been preached many times on here but still some don't understand or get it. Save your breath!

I know it has been asked before but thought it might be worth another go having seen the endless ones in Q&P today.
Has there ever been a reply from an Ed even acknowledging that it's something that could be improved?
Many posters of questions on Q&P are new to AB which may partly explain it. I've noticed many also make a mess of their first attempt as they press SUBMIT or enter before they enter the question, so they have a second or third attempt.
Hopefully the changes on the beta version on Q&P will help
The main problem with it is that if you click enter whilst in the title box, it submits the question.

Plus there may be a way of having to fill the question box in before you can submit aswell, perhaps.
Hi bibblebub- yes I've raised this a few times on the Suggestions topic but have never had a response from the AB Editor.
Here are some examples.

You would think that just looking down all the other questions it would occur to them that they are perhaps doing it the wrong way.
I have never seen a reply from the Ed on this subject buit maybe will get one now.
Of course there is e.g. disable the submit button until there is text in the details box (that takes all of 1 line of code to implement).
^ that was a reply to Mollykins posting.
ok, thanks biblebub, i'm not that technical, i just managed to get the equivilent of a gcse in ict, and i didn't know if that was possible- for me to get the gcse and for the question input minimum!
I agree with your suggested solution.
Other ideas that I have suggested include:
- Limit the length of the title box to 30 or 40 characters
- move the position of the Submit button to after the Question Details box
factor but the question still might get submitted if you click enter instead of shift to go down into what you think is the question box but actually submits the question.
There are several approaches that could be chosen; if only they'd experiment with even just one of them.

I think factor's idea of limiting the number of characters in the title box could be the answer.
Hi Mctavish.....I am fully on your side and factor30's idea is a good one.

It would be nice if the Ed did say something.

Ron.
I could be mistaken, but I do think I saw somewhere the Ed did addressed this.

Regardless of how much this situation is addressed, posters will do what they want ie., until they get banned, or a serious warning from the Ed.

I have just noticed that the Ed has taken it all on board about the title box in his thread at the top of Q&P in a reply to the Beta thread.
Can someone please explain to me how I highlight a particular question with the number of the post ?
The daft thing is they already have the code in place elsewhere, If you try reporting a question and don't enter anything in the reason box it won't accept it.
what harm does it do?

i see a lot moaning about it on here, and i realise its not the correct use of the question box etc - but whats the actual problem, other than your minor irritation...?
joko - if you tried to answer crossword clue questions regularly (and a quick look at your profile suggests that you don't) then you'd start finding it rather irritating.
