Is AB now in reverse gear.?

When AB was re-vamped I started receiving E/mail notification of responses to Subscribed Threads and Questions...Previously, for some unknown reason, they had disappeared from the system.

It is the case, so far as I am concerned, that such E/mails are once again, non-existent.

My suggestion is that the Tech Bods should have a look into matters and keep us informed of problems at all times.

What say you.?

I would at least like emails telling me of answers to my own questions; I don't know why that very useful function was ditched. (You used to be able to switch it off on any given thread if you didn't want to hear about it any more.)
Jno, you could find out post to your questions quite easily by checking you profile, then clicking on questions. You'll be able to see the quantity of answers to a question / questions, and if they've increased.
I used to like that feature too but I must say now that profiles and number of posts are so visible there are some on here that would get well over 100 e-mails a day!
yes, society; but unless I've memorised how many answers there were before or when the last one arrived, I have to cllick on the thread to check. It just saves a bit of time if I'm notified (and, I presume, it doesn't greatly inconvenience AB to tell me since it's automated). Prudie, the important thing was you could switch it off if you wanted so you wouldn't be deluged with emails over chat-type threads, but you could still be notified about genuine questions.
Jno I hadn't realised you could switch it off, I know when I first joined I got really excited when I got notification e-mails.

Hi jno, society and Prudie......You are all correct in what you say. I don't wish anyone to think that I am favouring any individual but I feel that jno is on the same track as I am....memory certainly isn't good at my age.

Incidentally, I don't think that AB has withdrawn the facility....it's something has gone wrong with the system...hence my wish for the Technical staff to examine the issue concerned.

Ron if I am interested in keeping up with a thread I subscribe to it. That way you do get notified and can see at the side of the page if anyone has added to it too.

Sorry mamyalynne to disagree. What I am saying is that there's something wrong in my opinion with AB; because subscribing to a Thread doesn't always work for a lot of contributors.......In fact some strange things are happening.....having hit the 'Subscribe to Thread' button for my present question, I have had an an E/mail: whereas it should not have been necessary for my action.

Ron
Yes as you have subscribed it will inform you of any addition to the thread, including your own as its automated and will not differentiate between your posts and others.
Ron, I subscribe to an interesting thread and I get an email each time someone (inclduing me!) adds to it. There is also now a box appearing bottom right on my AB screen about subscribed threads but it seems a bit hit and miss whether my Subscribeds appear in there. The email bit certainly works for me.
Question Author
Hi boxtops......What you say is correct if everything is working as it should for all of us in AB. Perhaps therefore both you and mamyalynne would wish to comment on the fact that my present question has been 'threaded' but I have not had any notification that either of you have responded to me.

Are either of you threaded into my question and getting appropriate e/mails.? I would be really interested to know.

Best wishes both...Ron

It looks as if the thread has run-out on this one, without the Ed having cottoned-on.

Ron
Hi Ron, sorry I didn;t see your earlier post, I have just subscribed - I will let you know if I receive an email to tell me I'm posting!
Hi Ron again - yes I did, an email popped straight into my email inbox re my past post....
Question Author
Thanks boxtops for having responded further on this thread.

It's over three hours ago that you posted to me; but I have nothing in my 'In-box' to indicate as such.

I have experienced this sort of thing in the past with AB and recall the Ed having said that all would be sorted in due course.....which then became the case. However, it now seems that AB has gone backwards...so far as I am concerned.

Please comment further if you wish and, hopefully,( without AB's help) I will pick-up your response.

Ron.
