If a question is good enough to stir a healthy debate and merit several good replies, why suspend or banned the questioner? I understand banning users like Bimlegend and Bamknobby, but, not all users are out to stir or cause trouble.

I think SOME should be given a chance. Perhaps there should be a bit of convenient leniency? :-)

I don't really understand the point you're making... The debate can continue (and has) without the input of the OP who I guess from reading has been suspended for their circus tendencies. I don't see why someone who has trolled on the site should remain just because they asked a question that caused a conversation. The converstation and the site can do ok without their input.
Frank's been suspended, society - so his/her posts remain. It's only if someone is banned that the posts disappear. This is what's been said in the past.
It would only be a matter of time before it started spouting vile abuse at his chosen enemies.
He came back too, with a slightly different name, a couple of minutes later, asking why he was suspended - then whoosh! he'd gone again.

My point is - perhaps the question is a relevant one by the poster who is seeking help and genuine answers. (I try to see the good in everyone before the bad.)
Perhaps.... In this case I doubt it. Ed's said several times that he gets the final decision so I guess he's ok with it.

And how do you guys know that it's the same person asking questions and getting banned? Gawd I must be so naive...
They can still read the answers...just can't join in. I prefer the new suspension system because sometimes the trolls ask some good questions.
The ed can reinstate tpeople if they're suspended... If they don't get reinstated then I'm happy to assume it was just another muppet.
Lordy me.Will ever get the hang of all this political correctness?
It's pretty straightforward, girly - Ed said a few weeks back that he wants us to be nice to each other, and that banned people will be given short shrift. I guess that's what's been happening this weekend.
The system fails in allowing banned members to easily rejoin, usually within a minute or two.

'Banned' seems to mean 'temporarily inconvenienced', IMO.
Thank you boxtops. It is nice to know that the Ed's actions help to make it a more pleasant to ask questions.

Thy might want to ask a follow-up question which might be one of importance which might be helpful to them.

Isn't the main objective of this site is to answer questions in a helpful manner?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not on the 'trolls' side, but, as I said, just an observation. There were quite a few good questions where the poster got axed.

Girly, you are a new registrant, you might be suspended sooner than you think.
in fairness the trolls are responsible for their own demise society, maybe they could try another question and answer site and try not to abuse the priviledge of membership, the ed has them sussed on here.
Question Author
Fair enough Cazz, you've made a valid point which did also crossed my mind. But I do like to give the benefit of doubt...
Hi society and peepity peeps

Not all new entrants are trolls you know - some just stumble on the site or have been lurking to see what it's like and when the time's right, register to ask a question.

If it's a particularly silly one ( you know the ones ) it probably is a wind up or a troll but sometimes it is for real imo
Is that right thatt a new registrant might get suspendd. I don't understand that.
