Just on the back of this ;

That way when someone has good news they want to share there would be a topic which could be used.I think it would be an excellent idea and that way when some arent facing such brilliant news they could avoid that topic and it wouldnt be in their face so to speak.

Im sure ive seen this type of topic elsewhere.Might be worth a consideration?

Why can't reporting good news just stay in Chatterbank - surely this category covers all sorts of stuff we all want to chatter about.

I tend to agree with the personal issue hw, but saying as the thread in question was a friends S.I.L, I was showing my happiness at the outcome of the brain op, no sympathy needed, no 'poor me' and no attention seeking either, just very happy as I would be for anyone undergoing the same :-)

Brilliant, see, that's good news hw, good for you, I'm delighted
I wouldn't use a good news thread, I've not much interest unless I particularly like the user involved so I tend to avoid them. And I think the idea of a grumpy area is rubbish before anyone suggests it, I like to spread my grumpiness over all the topics.
i logged in a few minutes ago. saw posts from kate and bobbi, not questions , in CB both sharing " good news ",,,,, if its not broken dont fix it >
all par for this mine field called CB Anne :-)
But what about when good news goes bad ....

You know - you click on "Good News", expecting ... err, well, good news ... only to find that .... well, you know .... :o/
well mrs c, you post on the transfer thread , to say your news will now be in bad news topic
"i logged in a few minutes ago. saw posts from kate and bobbi, not questions , in CB both sharing " good news ",,,,, if its not broken dont fix it >"

agree!
Thanks very much anne.

How about leaving good news in CB, and putting "Good News" in the thread title (to cover the point about peeps not wanting to read good news when they're feeling down - that way, if they don't want to read good news, don't click on that thread).

Dris does raise a good point though, about threads quickly getting lost in CB, and not being able to find them easily.
OMG!! she is still rambling, Give bobbi a break dris, you can dress your thread up how you like, but it's obvious to all, all in the know! what your up to.
Anne, I've just had a lightbulb moment ..... was your transfer thread tongue-in-cheek?

Ya bu88er. :o)
I find it very refreshing for people to post good news and bad news on CB, everyone is usually nosy enough to have a look, and say well done, or commiserations. If it's tucked away in a topic on it's own what happens to the poor poster if no-one bothers to have a look. Leave it to Chatterbank to respond to it, that is where the chatter is.
