Trying To Remember A Book

Hi - I am trying to remember the author/titles of a series of books I read some time ago, probably in the 70s.

They were sort of detective novels, but set in an American bank on Wall Street. The name of the bank had the word LOAN in it and possibly also FIDELITY, although I am not sure about that.

The main character was someone who worked in the bank, and all the stories were based around banking and financial matters.

It is possible, although again I might be wrong, that they were published by Gollancz - I do have a recollection of the yellow covers they used.

All of this is very vague, I know, and it is driving me mad! Every so often I feel I am just on the point of remembering something, and it slips away from me!

Any help in restoring my sanity would be very gratefully received!

I'm really not sure, but the following link mentions "Sloan Guaranty Trust" & looks as though it might fit your Q -

Sorry if it's completely wrong! :-)

It never ceases to amaze me how there is always someone on Answerbank who can come up with an answer to the most obscure question, even when half the things I thought I had remembered turned out to be wrong!!

This is exactly what I have been trying to remember. Thank you so much. Now I am off to Amazon and Abebooks and my local library catalogue to see if I can track any of them down.

Thanks again!
I'm so pleased I was able to help & good luck with your hunting! :-))

My local library doesn't have any, but I have ordered three from Abebooks and it will be interesting to discover whether they are as good as I remember them to be.

Websites like the Answerbank and Abebooks are just what the internet was made for!

Thanks again.
