Book from from the 1970s/80s about a girl and a stag.

I'm trying to remember this book I read as a teenager...I can't remember the title but I know it was about a girl with a kind of psychic connection to a stag and it was set around Exmoor and involved hunting and 2 boys who were interested in her. I am driving myself nuts trying to remember this!

Thank you for trying to help - I looked up that book but it wasn't the one. I think I've found out what it is now, thanks to a relative - it's Stag Boy by William Rayner.
