Recommend A Crime/thriller Author

I usually read horror, eg. Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Herbert, but recently prefer crime/thriller. Just finished re-reading the Jack Reacher novels and wonder if someone could suggest another author to try. I've also read a lot of Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson and Kathy Reichs so pretty much up to date with those. Thanks for your help.

I have recently enjoyed Chris Brookmyre's Where the Bodies are Buried.
It's a bit Scottish, but not too many dialect words.
A good bit of black humour too.

I also enjoy his other books written as Christopher Brookmyre...they are very blackly funny.

I haven't read it but you might want to try the new crime thriller, "The Cuckoo's Calling", written by J K Rowling under the name of Robert Galbraith.

I recommend John Connolly. Every Dead Thing is his first Charlie Parker novel. There are ten in all.

Have you tried Greg Hurwitz. Or She Dies was the first of his books I read. The stories move along at a cracking pace and they are well written imo

C.J.Samson for historical crime/detective stories. Eric Ambler for European intrigue and a wonderful caste of characters. Arturo Perez Reverte, for some very unputdownable novels that are that bit different to the usual stuff.

Jeffrey Deaver is pretty good too....his Lincoln Rhyme books are page-turners.
The Bone Collector, The Coffin Dancer, the Empty Chair etc etc.

Camilla Läckberg - The Patrik Hedström series; Patrik Hedström a police detective, and Erica Falck, a writer, in the fishing town of Fjällbacka, Sweden.

I'm working my way through the series.

Isn't it strange how we all like different things? I love Harlen Coben - but cannot abide the Myron Bolitar books. Michael Connoly is also fab, but I prefer the Lincokn lawyer series although I do like the Harry Bosch ones too. Tess Gerritsen writes really good gory thrillers, and Karen Rose is also a good read. A recent discovery of mine is Simon Kernick, Ive enjoyed everything Ive read of his so far. Martina Cole? Hate her books, she has very limited vocabulary beyond all the crude four letter swear words you can think of.

Popped along to the library and got a couple of Jeffrey Deaver novels to start with as I loved The Bone Collector. I will work my way through all your suggestions as I do a lot of reading now. I do agree with you Lynda about Martina Cole - sorry to whoever suggested her but I have tried in the past!

I recommend Peter James as well...............his 'dead' series, not his other books.
