Just finished reading the above book by Peter James. Has anybody else read it (craft?) and what did you think of it ?

I've read all Peter James books and to be honest, I find the Roy Grace series just a bit boring these days. I feel he's dragged the subject on for too long now and it's all very samey and repetitive. I now look at other authors for variation.

I admit I didn't like this book at first. The reference to Bryce Laurent having sex with his mother was similar to another book he wrote (not one of the Dead books) and I was fed up with it still dragging on about Sandy, but I started to enjoy it eventally, although it's not his best Dead book imo.
Yes the Sandy Saga just goes on and on and on and on.....
Question Author
I wonder if she's dead now though ?
Let's hope !
The other book you mention.. I can't recall the name but it was also set in Brighton and London. It was about a creepy son and his actress mother, with faded glory. In fact. was that her name ? Gloria? He killed a rival old actress. He had sex with his mother. It was all very creepy and weird but it was a great book though.
He lived in a big old house in Holland Park and it had a cellar
I enjoyed it but it wasn't one of his best, and yes I think Sandy is dead now and Roy will finally meet his son...
Question Author
It was called Denial jan and he reminded me a bit of the villain in Want You Dead. He writes a good creepy novel does Peter James!
Craft, but it really has been dragged out hasn't it? I tell you this, if I ever met Sandy, I'd like to give her a bl***y good slap. What a selfish neurotic spiteful b**ch she is.
Question Author
In that case craft, I look forward to the next Dead book, as long as it doesn't drag on again and he meets his son fairly soon.
Yes Denial. Peter James writes EXCELLENT thrillers but as I say, the Roy Grace series has been flogged to death now.
I've met Peter James MANY times. He lives locally and is often seen around town. He's always chatty and friendly and very interesting to talk to.
Question Author
Yes jan, she left him and vanished without trace, now she wants him back - selfish mare!!! Anyway if she's dead, she can't have him back now !

Actually, I wish she had shouted out at the wedding !
Question Author
If you see him again jan, you could ask him to stop dragging it out with Sandy (ha ha).

Seriously though, I'd love to meet him, lucky you.
Move down to Brighton Chaptaz and you will !
Question Author
Would love too ....
Let me know when you do. I'll buy you a drink !
Luckily I can read his books in Yorkshire...
Question Author
Oke doke jan !
Craft, as you live in Yorkshire, have you ever read any of Peter Robinson's books? I like his writing.
Yes I've read most of them Janbee, what a shame they cast Stephen Tomkinson as Banks, not quite as bad as casting Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher though...
