Some years ago I read a rather crude book about the residents of a square in London, with a rather suspect gardener looking after the shared square. Can't remember title or author TIA

Sounds like Sap Rising by A A Gill - crude possibly but brilliantly written!

I had it in my mind that Will Self had written it, I knew it was by a Times journalist. Will see if I can get a copy to read again.
