Yes - highly recommended. It was the one that put Iain Banks on the literary map.
Some of his subsequent novels were a little weird for my taste, but I did particularly like Espedair Street, The Crow Road, Whit, Dead Air, and Stonemouth.
He wrote some great science fiction too, under the name Iain M Banks. Tragically he died in 2013 at the age of 59.
