I read Room At The Top and it's sequel Life At The Top a few years ago.I was quite surprised by them as they were not what I had expected.I think I had an impression of the TV series in my head when I started them and they were nothing like that.I think I had also seen the Laurence Harvey film many years before but I didn't remember that at all.Good books, very much of their time.
May I also recommend A Kind Of Loving and it's two sequels by Stan Barstow. They are among my favourite books.Again they are very much of their time but as such are a fascinating view of an England long gone.
