Haven't seen the film yet, but have just finished the first book.  Loved it - and I'm 34!!  Will be keeping them for my son when he's old enough (he's only 19mnths old just now).  I loved that they were a different kind of childrens book, no happy endings for this lot!

I read up to about book 7, then gave up. I'm not really sure why. Maybe they were coming out too close together, but they just got to be really hard going. My 15 year old loves them and is up to date with all the books.
I really like the idea of the books - sugary sweetness in them. I like the youngest sister, and all the asides (which here means something like...) but other than that don't really have any preferences.
