Last year I was browsing and picked up a book that looked quite interesting, but I've no idea what it's title or author are.

The premise of the book was a person writing letters to an Aunt (I think) from a place where characters from the alphabet were being banned. Each chapter then did not feature the banned letters. It seemed to be a modernish book.

If anyone recognises it from this description, I would be a little suprised, but very grateful!

This very inventive book is called ella minnow pea by Mark Dunn. The paperback edition published by Methuen in 2003. I read it last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your description is very accurate and it's creativity lies in the word play rather than any compelling character or plot development. Hope you enjoy it.
