My wife has read this book. She says it is poorly written, and its contents are somewhat puerile. Is she right? Should I read it?

I haven't read it but from what I've heard it is very poorly written.
With that recommendation why would you want to?

Your wife's assessment is pretty accurate!
It is to great literature what the Trabant was to automotive development.
It is poorly written it is no Emma but it is still enjoyable.
the only bit of your wife's analysis that i would disagree with is the "somewhat". I would substitute "totally"
However - several of my friends have given in to their husbands to read, just so they know what it's all about (which was helpful when we played the board game over Christmas!). Have a read, it won't take you long.
There is sequel on the way ' 50 Shades of Gay' for those who lick the other side of the stamp.
Total tripe .
Yup, it's tripe alright. To be honest I skipped to the naughty parts only ! :O)
But the key question has to be

"Can you read it with one hand ... ?"
A pain in the arse!
Whippet, sipo, Whippet ...

Oh dear, that bad, eh? Sounds like 'The Story of O' which i tried to read many years ago. Highly recommended as a sleep-inducing agent, esp. the naughty bits.
I really enjoyed them.
Yes she is, no you shouldn't.

It's terrible.
people don't read it for the huge contribution to literature it has made - they read it for w**k fodder, or both of them read it to spice up their sex life. Purile is subjective, so you'll only know if you read it yourself - just suspend disbelief at page one (young virgin gets seduced by older millionaire, sexually kinky man, and sex is "earth shattering" every single time and way - he never has an off day, she never farts, there's no squelching and surprise surprise she finds out she likes kinky too :)
a friend lent me the books a whole ago, I have yet to read them.
while! Oooops
I can't believe people read it to get off on to be honest. The sex scenes are so sugar coated with vomit inducing descriptions, that you just want to kill both characters in the book, slowly and painfully- then yourself just to end the misery.

I only got a 3rd of the way through the 1st one, and removed the 2nd and 3rd installment from my Kindle without even attempting them- life's too short!
she's right.....it is a sorry excuse for a book. i prefer reading erotica and there are many better authors out there. in the absence of reading material, i jump on mr kicker......a much better option! (and he doesn't need any reading tips) x
