Don't know if he's good or bad but I adore Snape
im going for the theory that he is secretly good and that agist his will (this was shown when he argued with Dumbledore) killed Dumbledore to keep his cover. The arguement with Dumbledore makes more sense this way as Dumbledore said that his decision was final.
hmmm he has to be bad doesnt he, i meen dumbledore was the only one voldy was afraid of. if he was good he would not have made an unbreakable vow to kill dumby
I think he was good. But once the Unbreakable Vow was formed between him and Narcissa he had no choice but the turn to Voldemort, or face death.
Definitely a goody - it will all come out in final book. Dumbledore sacrificed himslef to get Snape closer to Voldermort.

OK, my thory is that he is good, but dumbledore knew about the unbreakable vow between snape and malfoy, and made another with snape saying snape has to protect harry and sacrifice anything...he also had the conversation that if it came to it, snape should kill dumbledore to get closer to voldy. dumbledore must have made other enchantments, spells, etc. to protect harry. I think snape is getting more scared, though. he hates harry, but knows he must protect him. Also, I think that becuase Snape made 2 unbreakable vows almost contradicting eachother, something worse than death would have happened to him if he broke both. just my imagination running free with me, now...Lol

GIve me credit i'm only 14!!

I was hoping he'd come good in the end but who knows
ok, but if dumbledore sacrificed himself or made an unbreakable vow with Snape, why was he pleading with him right before he died?
Hello, i've never read a Harry Potter book, so sorry to barge in - BUT i do remember from the first film that Snape saved Harry during the quidditch match when the bloke with the turban was trying to make him crash. why would he have done that if he was bad? Also - think about it, he's been obviously bad and creepy the whole way through - the twist has got to be that he's been good all along. surely?
wen dumbledore was pleading at the end it could have been for snape to kill him and keep protecting harry. i like your theory random_101. a part of me thinks snape couldn't possibly be bad, but it would be interesting if he was, it would actually be a twist as im sure deep down everyone was sure he was just a goody with a bad temper up until the end of this book.
and as an afterthought- dumbledore must have planned to die in that way, its dumbledore, he has control over everything so he must have known what was going on. im pretty sure he was pleading with snape to kill him, not for mercy.
