Books/Films set on the 19th century

Does anyone knows of any good films or books either about Jack the Ripper or set round 1800 to 1930? It can be romance, action, documentary anything really...

"From Hell" by Alan Moore is a good place to start...it's a graphic novel which attempts to explain the myth surrounding Jack the Ripper. It's been made into a film starring Johnny Depp which is well worth seeing

Try "The Lodger" starring ivor novello for an early one. Murder by Decree is a reasonable Holmes take on the murders too, with Christopher Plummer.

The Boris Akunin detective stories with Erast Fandorin as the main character are set in the second half of the 19th cent.
