Woman's Prize For Fiction 2019

I can never understand Book Awards. The winning book defeated the Booker Award Winner here and was only longlisted for the NBA in the US.

I read Tayari Jones' book last year and wasn't that impressed.

My thought is that I have never ever bought or read a book on the basis that its a prize winner

different people have different opinions about a book? A more objective method might be to grade them according to the number of adverbs, but I certainly hope nobody tries it.

Jno, lots of different opinions yes.

Last year, I read the entire Booker Prize longlist and only two I gave a higher rating than 3/5. It was a very indifferent longlist which even included a Graphic Novel!

Many of the 'big' names were overlooked too.

Nope. I read what I like and don't take any notice of book awards.

I really only choose a book that the synopsis gives me a clue of the subject matter in it that I will enjoy. Rarely disappointed but a few Turkeys. I would never purchase a book to read because it may have been awarded a literary award .
