Searching For A 1940S Or 1950S Childrens Book

The book was about how flowers got their names. The two illustrations I particularly remember are Sweet William who was a gardener in a checked shirt and Daisy which had daisies being put to bed when the sun went down. It's not one of the usual books and nothing to do with the Flower Fairies books.

Possibly 'The Children's Book of Wild Flowers and the Story of Their Names' by Gareth H Browning. I hope this link works - it's a photo of one of the pages in the book which might be helpful.
