By Dante Gabriel Rossetti. I've googled dozens of listings of his work and not found it. I'd like to find a print by a reliable source.

Can you give a description o r some more info. Birmingham Art Gallery would be a good place to contact. They have a permanent exhibition of pre Raphaelite artists.
The Beloved.

Well that explains why it didn't turn up on a search...
I'm not very keen on it. Maybe an early work?
it was in the Pre-Raphaelite Sisters exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery a couple of years ago. Lovely work.
No, I’m not fussed either. The colours are too, err, too something or other. And I’m not keen on the subject matter either.
What on earth is there to like about it? To me it's romantic kitsch; I do love the little pink flowers falling down from their bodies, though.
they're scattering poppies for sleep
Poppy flowers don't make you sleep. But only a few artists would know that.
//Sleep, who gently scatters poppies onto the earth beneath, from the armful of flowers that he has taken from his girdle. (The Victorians used laudanum as a sleeping draught, which was made from tincture of the opium poppy.)//
Really, there's some awful criticism here. I can see why pasta thought it was a Rosetti - the colours are vibrant, the hint that it could be a Botticelli or some other Italian Renaissance.... don't damn the painting, you may not like it, but it's a quality painting, falling poppies and all.
The 'stuff' is obtained by scoring the seed-pods and coollecting the latex exudation for processing. The flowers don't have it. But, it's all symbolic, like wearing drugs on your lapel.
I need some morphine.......thanks Atheist!
