"A year ago I had a strange dream. A dream I can never forget as if it's been engraved in my brain. I saw myself in a room with a large window which had no glass to separate me from the outside world. An unknown man slept comfortably near me with a bowl of fruits besides him and three puppies playfully ran around the bed. We were both naked. Unashamed of our lack of modesty. I dipped my feet into the blue stream running by the room. From the other side I could see naked people cooling themselves in colourful bathtubs. Another couple made love in their room. There were books and plants for everybody to enjoy. Was I in heaven? I bet I was. A heaven free from human-invented rules..."

I've never used gouache, or acrylics, as they dry too quickly for me. I am a hopeless painter and need time to work the paint and wipe off when necessary. Acrylics, I find, don't allow me to mix subtle colours, and I have not been able to use glazes to overpaint and modify earlier work. Oils let me work slowly and let me modify what I've done. I'd prefer to work quickly , but I haven't got the skill to do that. Van Gogh used oils and worked quickly (but carefully and delicately) but he didn't overpaint - he used hatching techniques to do optical mixing.
I like your painting. Reminiscent of Hockney and (early) Lucian Freud in its subject.
Keep up the good work.
How long have you been painting?

Atheist/ I know what you mean. My mom is a realist painter and she always uses oil paints. When I was younger I tried to mimic her style and I realised realism is not for me and oil paints don't flow on the canvas as satisfyingly as I wanted. So I switched to acrylics and found my niche in gouache painting 3 years ago. I can say that I started drawing seriously as a beginner when I was 15 years old (7 years ago) and started getting my hands on painting about 4 years ago. I'm not sure if I'm still a beginner or I'm just slow at learning how to paint. But I never attended classes to learn how to paint and my mom is opposed to my primitive style. She only appreciates realism and she doesn't like Van Ghog or Hockney. She does appreciate impressionism though. Therefore I've mostly been a self-taught artist. And thanks for the compliment by the way. That means a lot.
Atheist/ Actually I only shared the most interesting part of my dream. The whole story is that I saw myself as a 35-year-old woman (I'm only 22) who's lived in London for 5 years (I live in Italy). I'd just bought a car and I was quite nervous driving when suddenly a man who seemed to be wounded jumped into my car. I noticed that he's been shot on his leg. He begged me to keep driving. I suddenly saw a group of bearded men like the ISIS approaching me with guns in their hands. I started driving as fast as I could and successfully escaped. I took the man to a doctor who seemed to be a friend of mine. My friend removed the bullet out of his body but warned me not to trust this guy since he seemed to be an American spy. The guy wanted to get out of the country to escape the people chasing him. He asked me if I wanted to go with him and I said yes! Then we were in Morocco in that magical hotel in my painting. I was having fun in that place when I woke up. It was such an amusing dream!
